Quilt Fest Registration
Quilt Drop Off: Decatur Civic Center on Thursday, March 29, 2012 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. No quilts will be accepted after 1:00 pm - NO EXCEPTIONS
Quilt Pick Up: Saturday, March 31, 2012 between 5:00 pm and 5:45 pm
Quilt Registration Guildlines
Each Quilt must be registered separately. No fee required to enter. Exhibitor receives FREE admission to the show.
Definition of a Quilt: A quilt consists of 3 layers: 2 layers of cloth filled with "batting" material, held together by stitched designs. Quilt may be embellished with material other than cloth.
- Any quilt shown within the last 7 years at a Decatur Quilt Guild Show will not be accepted.
- A quilt that needs special handling or has a wooden frame will NOT be accepted for hanging.
- Quilts must be hand or machine quilted - NOT TIED.
- Crazy quilts can be shown but will not be eligible for voting unless they are antique or quilted.
- THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO HANG ANY ITEM ENTERED.
QUILT CATEGORIES
| 100 | Antique | No Size Restriction: A quilt that was finished over 50 years ago, including the top, quilting, and binding. |
| 200 | Appliqué | No Size Restriction: The predominant design element of the quilt must be applique that is made by cutting shapes of one or more fabrics and applying them to the surface of another fabric by hand or machine. |
| 300 | Embroidery | No Size Restriction: The predominant design element of the quilt must be embroidery using a stitching technique by hand or machine on cloth that is then put into the quilt. Includes all embroidered top or blocks set together. |
| 400 | Hand Quilted | No Size Restriction: Any method of piecing but must be hand quilted. |
| 500 | Crib Quilt | Max of 36" x 50": Quilt using any method of piecing/quilting. |
| 600 | Lap Quilt | Min of 50", max of 65": Quilt using any method of piecing/quilting. |
| 700 | Twin/Full Quilt | Min of 65", max of 88": Quilt using any method of piecing/quilting. |
| 800 | Queen/King Quilt | Min of 88": Quilt using any method of piecing/quilting. |
| 900 | Miniature | Max of 24" x 24": Quilts that are scaled from full size designs to a miniature size. |
| 1000 | Small Wall Hanging | Max of 36" on all sides: Quilted piece that may or may not be made for the purpose of hanging on a wall. |
| 1100 | Large Wall Hanging | Minimum of 36" but Max of 50" on all sides: Quilted piece that may or may not be made for the purpose of hanging on a wall. |
| 1200 | Art Quilts | No Size Restriction: Embellished or mixed media quilt may include beading, surface design, painting, photographs, etc., or a combination of effects. |
| 1300 | Holiday | No Size Restriction: All quilted Holiday items, excluding any dolls or stuffed items. |
| 1400 | Potpourri | Quilted items (excluding wall hangings) that are used to decorate a home such as pillows, table runners, & placemats or wearables such as clothing, purses, totes, & hats. More than 50% of item must contain patchwork, piecing/appliqué, and hand or machine quilting. We do not show dolls or stuffed items. |
| 1500 | Made by Youth | No Size Restriction: Made by a person 16 years or younger. This category is not eligible for Viewer's Choice vote, but placement ribbons will be awarded. Please list age of quilt maker after their name on the Pre-Registration form. |
| 2000 | Challenge Quilts | Quilts from Guild Members pertaining to the Quilt Fest Challenge. |
| 5000 | Rail Quilts | Quilts from Guild Members for display on the upper railing. |
