Welcome to the
Decatur Quilters Guild

The Decatur Quilters Guild is a not-for-profit organization, which strives to spread the art of quilting to all who are interested. Members do many charity projects, such as making quilt for wounded soldiers returning from war, quilts for Project Linus, as well as charity quilts which are given to a non-profit organization to help them in their fund-raising efforts. The Decatur Quilters Guild also provides mini-quilt shows to area nursing homes and is also a participant in the National Quilt Day.

2012 International Quilt Festival Trip

Cincinnati April 12-14, 2012

Join us as we embark on our second year attending the International Quilt Fest in Cincinnati. The first year was Fantastic so we are going back. So grab a friend or come by yourself and make new friends! We are leaving from J.C.Penny north east parking lot at Hickory Point Mall at 6:30 a.m. April 12, (additional stops may be added). Estimated arrival time in Cincinnati is 2:00 p.m. We will stop for lunch on the way. Upon arrival we should have a couple hours for check-in and getting settled before going to Preview Night. Preview night allows you to get a head start on everyone else! We will be able to spend 4 hours Thursday evening shopping and viewing quilts before the crowds show up Friday! April 13 , is a day on your own for taking classes, shopping, or viewing the wonderful city! On Saturday April 14, we will depart at 1:00 pm. This will allow you to take a morning class, continue shopping, sightsee or sleep late! Please be prompt on the departure time. I will let you know about a late check out. Please make sure I have your cell phone number. For information on classes, luncheons, etc. go to www.quilts.com Click on Cincinnati show. Click on class catalogue. Some of the projects can be seen by clicking on the titles located in square boxes with description. I will have info on optional eating and sightseeing trips.

The hotel: the Millennium on Fifth St. is the only hotel that is connected to the Duke Star Energy Center where the Quilt Festival is being held. This will make it easy to come and go to the show. Especially if the weather is bad. All rooms have two double beds. The Millennium is a 4 star property - and can be seen at www.millenniumhotels.com.

Included in the price is: 2 night’s stay at the Millennium hotel, motor coach, driver’s tip, snacks on the coach and your two day admission and Preview Night to the show.

Only 20 rooms are on hold. Your full payment holds your seat and room. There are no refunds. The last day payment will be accepted is February 15, 2012. Checks should be made out to “DQG” and given to Barbara Stinson. Anyone registering for classes will have a different total since their admission will be paid with their class registration. You must let me know you are registered before making any payment. This trip is based on 30 people.
We hope you consider joining us to Cincinnati. It was a lot of fun last year and I’m sure will be this year! If you have any questions or concerns please call Barbara Stinson at 217-412-2033 or email her . Thank you and hope to see you on the coach!

2011 Quilt Fest Silent Auction

The Decatur Quilters Guild's Quilt Fest presented funds raised through a Silent Auction at our show in March to the Decatur Public Schools Lending Library of Musical Instruments. This program was created 2 years ago by community members who saw a need to make musical instruments available to grade schoolers who might not be able to afford to purchase an instrument. Instruments were donated from many generous people and others were purchased by funds raised and/or donated by the Decatur Public Schools Foundation. Currently, the Lending Library has 140 band and orchestra instruments to lend to 4th and 5th graders and funds raised will go towards the purchase and maintenance of instruments. In the first year the Library was founded, music classes saw a 15% increase in participation and an additional 18% increase in the second year.
