Membership
Membership in the Decatur Quilters Guild shall be open to any adult 18 years of age or older, interested in the art of quilting. No one will be discriminated against on the basis of age, sex, race, color, creed, national origin, or disability.
Prospective members may attend two meetings before membership is required.
Junior members may attend any guild meeting with their sponsor or other regular or lifetime member who agrees to serve as sponsor (designee) on an interim basis. A junior member must know how to operate a sewing machine and other equipment safely as well as be able to follow directions or ask questions when directions are unclear. Junior members must always exhibit appropriate behavior. Junior members may attend guild classes ONLY if their sponsor or designee also takes the class and has determined that junior member's skill level is sufficient to take the class.
Annual dues are due by May 1. After this date dues are delinquent. Current dues are $20/year for regular members and $5/year for Junior members. New members joining after January 1 shall pay one-half of the dues for the remainder of the year.
A guild member may attend the meetings and participate in all activities at the day and night meetings. The first meeting of the
month is the business meeting.
The "Birds in Flight" quilt block pattern is the Decatur Quilters Guild logo.
Meetings
Day Group
The day group meetings are held twice monthly on the second and fourth Wednesdays at Soy Capital Bank, 455 N. Main St., Decatur, IL 62523, starting at 10:00 am. Click HERE for a map of this location.
Twice a year we have special meetings, the second meeting in May is our Spring Luncheon potluck, held away from the bank site. We have installation of officers for the new year. Our Christmas potluck is held away from the bank as well. We have an exchange of Christmas blocks at this meeting. Both meetings have special programs.
Attendees are asked not to park in the bank parking lot, unless you have a special circumstance, and then arrangements are made with the bank. Our meetings are all non-smoking meetings.
We use Decatur School District 61 and Richland Community College as our guidelines for meetings. When they are closed due to inclement weather, then we do not meet. Every effort is made to notify members outside the local media area.
Evening Group
The Evening Group meetings are held twice monthly on the second and forth Monday, September through June. The meetings are held in the lower level of the Grace Baptist Church, 3770 N. Water St., Decatur, IL 62526, from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Click HERE for a map of this location.
There are two special meetings a year for the night group. In September, they celebrate their anniversary with a potluck dinner at the church, but for Christmas, they have a dinner away from the church.
As with the day group, if Decatur District 61 schools and Richland Community College don't meet because of bad weather, the Guild doesn't meet either.
Parking is available to the east of the church. Entrance to the church is through the east door. All meetings are non-smoking.
